No. 4 Duke stumbles, loses to Wake Forest

Streeter LeckaThe Blue Devils lost a shocker on Wednesday, falling to Wake Forest, 82-72. The Demon Deacons entered the game with a 5-11 record in the ACC, and a 1-3 record against ranked opponents. Five Wake Forest players scored in double figures, led by Tyler Cavanaugh’s 20 off the bench.
The loss solidifies Duke’s spot as the fourth place team in the ACC. The Blue Devils will have a chance to finish the season tied for third with North Carolina if they can avenge their loss to the Tar Heels in the regular season finale on Saturday.

Andy LyonsSmith, not known as a sharpshooter, tied a career high by hitting six three-pointers. He hit every three he took, while backcourt mate Chris Jones shot 4-7 from deep. Louisville forced 21 SMU turnovers, including 16 steals. Jones alone finished the game with six takeaways to go with 21 points.
The brunt of SMU’s scoring was done by their point guard, Nick Russell. The senior tallied 18 points, including 10-11 from the free-throw line. But Russell was far from perfect, turning the ball over eight times in the game.
