College basketball scores: Duke wins rematch in Durham, Doug McDermott tops 3,000 points

Duke snapped North Carolina’s 12-game winning streak, Oregon upset Arizona and McDermott went off for a career-high 45 points.

Just a couple weeks ago, fans stormed the court in Chapel Hill as North Carolina pulled off a furious comeback to beat Duke by eight. Saturday night in Durham, the Blue Devils got their revenge, nearly leading wire-to-wire en route to a 93-81 win.

Jabari Parker scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in what was likely his final game at Cameron Indoor. The freshman will probably head to the NBA at the end of the season and Saturday night was a great example why. He went 10-of-17 from the floor while teammate Rodney Hood finished with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

No. 4 Duke won the game despite letting North Carolina shoot nearly 60 percent from the field. The 14th-ranked Tar Heels trailed by as many as 19, but came back in the closing minutes thanks to a brief flurry of threes from Marcus Paige, including this four-point play.

That brought North Carolina within eight, but the Tar Heels would get no closer. Duke made 9-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes to earn the season split with its in-state rival.

No. 13 Creighton 88 Providence 73

Creighton won on Senior Night, but the real story was, as usual, Doug McDermott. Playing in his final home game, the likely national Player of the Year scored a career-high 45 points and became just the eighth player in college basketball history to score 3,000 in his career.

With the loss, Providence's at-large chances took a serious hit. The Friars may have to win a few games in the Big East Tournament to solidify a spot in the 68-team field.

Illinois 66 No. 24 Iowa 63

Jon Ekey hit a three with 0.3 seconds to go to give Illinois the upset win on the road. With the game tied at 63 and the Illini with the ball, Tracy Abrams found Ekey on the left side, who caught, shot and shocked the Hawkeyes.

Iowa now limps into the Big Ten Tournament having lost five out of its last six games.

Rayvonte Rice scored 15 for Illinois to lead all scorers. Aaron White finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Hawkeyes, who were out-rebounded 34 to 29.

No. 12 Michigan 84 Indiana 80

The Wolverines narrowly avoided what would have been an ugly loss, out-scoring Indiana by 10 in the second half to eke out a win against the Hoosiers. Michigan has now won five in a row, while Indiana dropped its last two games, virtually eliminating hope of an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan used an 8-0 run early in the second half to take the lead, then went ahead again on two Nik Stauskas free throws with slightly more than 15 minutes remaining. The Hoosiers never regained the lead. But despite not trailing for the final 15 minutes, the Wolverines could not distance themselves from the Hoosiers. Stanford Robinson kept Indiana close and even hit a jumper to tie the game with 90 seconds to go.

But Glenn Robinson responded with a quick three and Michigan put the game away at the line in the final minute. Stauskas scored 21 and Robinson finished with 20 to lead the Wolverines. Will Sheehy netted 17 for Indiana.
