McDermott, a unanimous choice, was the first three-time selection in 29 years and was joined by three other seniors as well as one stud freshman.

Creighton senior Doug McDermott was a unanimous choice for The AP All-America Team, which was announced on Monday.

McDermott led the nation in scoring at 26.9 points per game and became the first three-time choice in 29 years. Patrick Ewing of Georgetown and Wayman Tisdale of Oklahoma were the last three-time selections.

McDermott was joined on the first team by three fellow seniors and Duke stud freshman Jabari Parker. Parker was named ACC Freshman of the Year and is projected to be one of the first three players selected in the 2014 NBA Draft.

The three other seniors selected for the first team were Shabazz Napier of Connecticut, Russ Smith of Louisville and Sean Kilpatrick of Cincinnati. All three came from the first-year American Athletic Conference, which is the first time one conference had three players picked since the ACC in 2001-02.

Napier is the only player on the first team still playing, as his Huskies will take on the Florida Gators in the Final Four on Saturday. Parker and Kilpatrick were both knocked out in the second round, while McDermott went out quietly against Baylor in the third round and Smith's highly-regarded Louisville team lost to rival Kentucky in the Sweet 16.

McDermott was the leading vote-getter on the first team, followed by Parker, Smith, Napier and Kilpatrick.

The second team features Nick Johnson of Arizona, Andrew Wiggins of Kansas, Nik Stauskas of Michigan, Melvin Ejim of Iowa State and T.J. Warren of North Carolina State. Johnson was the leading vote-getter on the second team.
