Harrison twins will skip NBA Draft to return to Kentucky, according to report

The twins’ decision could be the most important NBA Draft decision for the Wildcats this offseason.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky has received a lot of good news regarding NBA Draft decisions recently, but today coach John Calipari got his best news yet, as Aaron and Andrew Harrison are reportedly coming back to school for their sophomore seasons.

The Harrisons’ decision was by far the most important one for Kentucky this offseason, as A Sea of Blue detailed:

If the Twins return, John Calipari has a second year starter at the point guard position for the first time at Kentucky and he has a player in Aaron Harrison that showed that he is willing to be the leader during crunch time. Having them return would give Kentucky depth at the guard positions, something that the Wildcats will struggle with if Aaron and Andrew decide to opt for the NBA.

The Harrison twins very clearly want to get to the NBA as soon as possible, but they would likely have fallen in this year’s draft. With another year under their belts, they could both shoot up the draft boards.

As a consolation prize, the twins will be part of a Kentucky team next year that could challenge Duke to be the top team in the preseason polls. The frontcourt depth will be incredible: Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee and Dakari Johnson all return, and they’ll be joined by Karl Towns and Trey Lyles. All were four-or-five-star recruits coming out of high school.

Without the Harrison twins, the backcourt could have been a question mark. But now that they’re returning, Kentucky is locked and loaded once again.
