Steve Masiello will return as the head coach of the Manhattan Jaspers next season, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. Masiello, who was placed on leave by Manhattan on March 26, will remain on leave until he finishes his undergraduate degree. He is about 10 credits shy and will take classes this summer, according to ESPN, with assistant Matt Grady running the program in the interim.
Manhattan will keep head coach Steve Masiello
After a bit of a controversy, Steve Masiello will still be the Jaspers’ head coach.

South Florida offered Masiello its head coaching position and subsequently took the offer off the table in March, once USF determined that he never graduated from Kentucky. South Florida eventually hired Orlando Antigua, who was an assistant coach at Kentucky.
As a result of USF’s findings, Manhattan put him on leave. The question was whether or not the Jaspers would take him back, both because of the lie and because schools often want coaches to set an example for players when it comes to the importance of graduating from college. It would appear Manhattan believes that having him complete his studies takes care of that issue.
