College of Charleston has fired men’s basketball coach Doug Wojcik amid allegations of verbal abuse, the school announced on Tuesday. Wojcik had been under investigation since July.

Wojcik had been suspended for the month of August when the findings of the school were published in a 50-page report. Wojcik did not head out on the road for the start of the crucial July recruiting period, but did eventually start recruiting by the end of the month.

The report found that Wojcik used degrading and profane language with his team. He allegedly homophobic slur against one player, though he denied it in the report.

Wojcik signed a five-year contract to replace Bobby Cremins as coach at Charleston before the 2012-13 season. In his first year, the Cougars went 24-11 and lost in the finals of the South Conference tournament championship game. Last season wasn’t as successful, as the team finished 14-18 during its first season in the Colonial Athletic Conference.
