College of Charleston’s coaching search is finally over. A month after the school fired former head coach Doug Wojcik for verbal abuse, the Cougars have hired Clemson assistant Earl Grant to replace him, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

Grant spent three seasons as an assistant at Wichita State before spending four years as an assistant with the Tigers under coach Brad Brownell. Grant is credited with recruiting former Clemson wing K.J. McDaniels, who was selected No. 32 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014 NBA Draft.

The hiring of Grant comes after a drawn out coaching search that saw the Cougars' top two finalists each withdraw late in the process. Mike Young first elected to stay at Wofford, then former Cougars star Anthony Johnson decided to pull his name out of the running. Grant was one of six candidates originally interviewed for the position.

College of Charleston went 14-18 last season, and hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 1999. The Cougars open their season on Nov. 15 against Furman.
