If you don’t know who Jayson Tatum is now, you will soon. Tatum, a 6’8, 190-pound forward out of St. Louis, is the No. 1 player in the class of 2016, according to Scout.com.
5-star recruit Jayson Tatum plans first official visit to Duke, scores 39 points in front of John Calipari
The No. 1 player in the class of 2016 put on a show over the weekend in front of the man who may be his coach in two years.

He’s one of the most sought after high school players in the country, and his recruitment is just starting to heat up. On Saturday, Kentucky coach John Calipari was in the building to watch Tatum score 39 points and pull down 14 rebounds while leading his Chaminade (Mo.) team to an 88-81 win over Stevenson High School (Ill.) top ranked point guard Jalen Brunson. Tatum’s 39 points would have been a tournament record if not for the 48 that Brunson scored.
Tatum is the first player in his class to have received a scholarship offer from Kentucky. He just planned his first official visit, which will be at Duke on Feb. 28 when the Blue Devils host Syracuse.
Here's the scouting report on Tatum, via Scout.com:
Tatum is one of the elite high school basketball prospects. He has tremendous size for the wing position, has a lengthy set of arms and is a solid all around athlete. Tatum has impressive ball skills, is a good passer and has a terrific overall feel for the game. Scoring wise, he can makes shots out to 22-feet, but he’s also effective in isolation situations when he can take defenders off the dribble for mid-range pull-ups or finishes at the rim.
Tatum is currently considering 10 schools: Arizona, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Saint Louis, UConn and Wake Forest. In a loaded 2016 class, Tatum stands out as arguably the best long-term prospect going forward.
