Kansas recruit mistakenly says he’s going to Kentucky

Carlton Bragg misspeaks at a very important time.

Carlton Bragg is a 6’10” five-star recruit from Villa Angela St. Joseph in Cleveland. Every major college basketball program has been after Bragg for a couple years now and on Thursday, he was set to finally make his decision. The finalists were Kentucky, Kansas, and Illinois. Before his announcement, he had a breakdown on why this was such an important recruitment.

After an interminable press conference featuring lots of preamble from people who were not Bragg, the coveted recruit finally stepped to the mic.

And after all the buildup, he announced “University of Kentucky” as he put on a Kansas hat. Bragg quickly corrected himself, apologizing and offering a verbal correction to match the hat. But it had to be quite the roller coaster for Kentucky fans. I’m sure Big Blue Nation will take it well.
