College basketball is losing one of its most well-known small school coaches, as ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reports that Utah State coach Stew Morrill will retire at the end of the season.

— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) January 9, 2015 Previously the head coach at Montana and Colorado State, Morrill has been at Utah State since 1998-99, and he turned the Aggies into one of the best teams of the mountain states. His teams made the postseason every year from 1999-2000 to 2011-12. Part of three conferences in Morrill’s tenure, Utah State won its conference seven times and made eight NCAA Tournaments.
Utah State’s success has made the Smith Spectrum one of the most underrated places to play in college basketball, known for its rowdy student section.
Utah State has struggled to live up to its usual dominance in the past few years, and the Aggies currently sit at 9-6.
