John Calipari has struck gold again. Edrice ‘Bam’ Adebayo, an ultra athletic 6’9 big man from North Carolina, picked Kentucky over NC State and others on Tuesday. He’s Kentucky’s fourth recruit and third five-star prospect now locked up for the class of 2016.

Adebayo is considered one of the more impressive athletic marvels in the country. He’s an explosive dunker and rebounder who will give Kentucky a physical presence at the rim. Adebayo is ranked as the No. 6 player in the class of 2016, according to ESPN.

Adebayo played on Team Loaded NC on the Adidas grassroots circuit with 5-star point guard Dennis Smith. When Smith picked NC State earlier this year, it led to speculation Adebayo would also end up with the Wolfpack. Calipari wasn’t about to let that happen.

Kentucky’s recruiting class already includes 5-star point guard De’Aaron Fox, 5-star big man Wenyen Gabriel and four-star big man Sacha Killeya-Jones. Kentucky is also in the mix for 5-star shooting guard Malik Monk, who is thought to be choosing between the Wildcats and his hometown Arkansas.

It’s worth noting that, at least up to this point, UK is again loading up in the front court and at point guard without much on the wings.
