Villanova vs. Butler final score: No. 6 Wildcats win with late 3
Butler gave Villanova all it could handle, but the Wildcats survived on the road.

Hilliard led the way for Nova, scoring a career-high 31 points. That included three crucial free throws with 1:24 to play that gave the Wildcats a two-point lead. Hilliard had a chance to ice the game with less than 30 seconds to play, but was called for a double dribble. Butler took advantage of the turnover and quickly tied the game on the other end. Hilliard made up for it, however, draining the game-winner with 1.5 seconds to play.
Butler got a tremendous look for the tie, running an excellent inbounds pass that got Kelan Martin a wide-open shot. The shot missed, however, and Nova celebrated the win.
It was a game of two halves as the teams engaged in a defensive struggle during the first half before the offenses got rolling in the second half. Regardless of the pace of play, the game remained close throughout. There were eight lead changes and several ties before Villanova took the final lead in the waning seconds.
