Malik Newman is one of the top unsigned basketball players left in the class of 2015. The 6’3 shooting guard will make his college decision in the spring, and Sunday he reportedly trimmed his list to six schools. Ohio State is no longer in the running, which means Kentucky, Kansas, LSU, N.C. State, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the only schools remaining.

Newman, a Mississippi native, has planned official visits to Kentucky, Kansas, LSU and N.C. State. He projects as a scoring guard with deadly range who should be one of the game-changing freshmen in college hoops next season.

Newman was the tournament MVP at the U17 World Championships last summer, helping lead the USA to a gold medal by averaging nearly 15 points per game on 47.7 percent shooting in seven games. He’s won three state championships at Mississippi’s Callaway High School and has drawn comparisons to another Mississippi native, Monta Ellis, for his style of play.

Newman is the No. 4 player in the class, according to ESPN. Here’s a video of him from earlier this season at Marshall Country HoopFest, where he scored a combined 77 points in two games:
