The Mountain West has been a tough league to figure out this year. Multiple teams are in contention for at-large bids, so there’s certainly competition. But most of the top teams’ best wins have come in-conference, so just how good the league is on a national scale is still in question.
Mountain West Tournament 2015: Bracket, schedule and scores
Bubble teams look to secure their spots out west.

Regardless, the Mountain West figures to get multiple teams into the Big Dance, with this week’s conference tournament a chance to polish resumes or even for someone unexpected to make a run and earn a spot.
Top seeds Boise State and San Diego State are both probably going to the NCAA Tournament no matter what happens in Las Vegas, but No. 3 seed Colorado State could use a win or two before it can rest comfortably on Selection Sunday.
After losing three of its last four, Wyoming probably needs to win the Mountain West Tournament to make the NCAA tournament, and don’t count the Cowboys out. They swept Colorado State and beat Boise State earlier in the year and are more than capable of making some noise.

The format
All 10 postseason-eligible teams in the Mountain West advance to the conference tournament. San Jose State -- which finished winless in the league anyway -- will not travel to Las Vegas due to a postseason ban. The eighth and ninth-place schools will play on the opening night with the winner facing regular season champion Boise State in the quarterfinals. The seventh and 10th-place schools will also play that first night, with the winner playing No. 2 seed San Diego State. The tournament concludes with the championship game on Saturday afternoon.
