Sun Belt Tournament 2015: Bracket, schedule and scores

Georgia State and Georgia Southern headline a top-heavy Sun Belt tourney.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Sun Belt Tournament will take place from Thursday through Sunday at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. This is another conference that should only get one bid to the NCAA Tournament, so the stakes are higher than ever for the teams involved.

The top two teams are the big favorites to win it all. Georgia State earned the top seed after smashing Georgia Southern in the regular season finale. However, if the past week of mid-major tournaments has taught us anything, we shouldn’t count out the mid-level teams in this one. Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas-Arlington are all capable of making some noise this weekend.

The format

Eight out of the 11 teams in the Sun Belt qualify for the tournament. Appalachian State was ineligible due to APR violations. The top two seeds get a double bye into the semifinals, with the next two teams entering play in the quarterfinals. They face the winners of the two first-round games.

The teams

  1. Georgia State Panthers
  2. Georgia Southern Eagles
  3. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks
  4. Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns
  5. Texas-Arlington Mavericks
  6. South Alabama Jaguars
  7. Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans
  8. Texas State Bobcats
