The Arizona Wildcats struggled more than anticipated to beat the UCLA Bruins in the semifinals, as everyone except from Brandon Ashley had trouble scoring efficiently against the zone. The game was close in the first half before the Wildcats pulled away and then withstood a late rally to secure the win in the end.

A team that many believe has Final Four potential, losing in a conference semifinals would not have looked good, and could have cost them when it came to seeding. However, the Wildcats made sure that didn't happen, re-validating their credentials. Now they will face the surprising Oregon Ducks as heavy favorites in the finals on Saturday.

Oregon has been having a great year despite serious roster turnover, and boasting fewer scholarship players than most of the teams playing at their level. Coach Dana Altman and guard Joseph Young won Pac-12 honors thanks to exceeding all expectations in a season that looked lost. They will crown a year in which they looked like a lock for the tournament with a conference finals appearance, following an exciting win over the Utah Utes on a 27-footer by Young.

The Ducks' fate will once again be tied to the senior guard and his ability to overcome the Wildcats' suffocating defense, something he struggled to do in the regular season. The forward duo of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Stanley Johnson could wreak havoc unless Elgin Cook and Dillon Brooks are at the top of their game. Arizona dominated the Ducks in their two meetings this season and should win the game easily, but by now it's clear that counting out the Ducks is risky.
