Alabama has fired coach Anthony Grant after six seasons, the Tuscaloosa News first reported. Grant only made the NCAA Tournament once during his time with the Crimson Tide and finished this season at just 18-14.

The Crimson Tide released a statement shortly after the report surfaced, confirming the news. Athletic Director Bill Battle explained:
In this business we are ultimately judged by wins and losses on the court and, for a variety of reasons, we haven’t made satisfactory progress in that area.
After posting three 20-win seasons in his first four years on the job, Grant has led Alabama to a 13-19 mark last year and a first-round SEC Tournament exit this season. He coached at VCU for three seasons before taking the job in Tuscaloosa and led the Rams to the NCAA Tournament twice.
In six seasons as Alabama head coach, Grant finished 117-85.
