NCAA Women’s Tournament 2015 bracket and schedule

The first round is in the books with almost no surprises among the top teams.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA Women’s Tournament continues on Sunday with the second round. Eight games are scheduled to take place on Sunday, with the remaining eight being played on Monday.

Friday’s first-round action saw three double-digit seeds advance. No. 11 Gonzaga took a 40-25 lead at halftime and held on for the 82-69 win over No. 6 George Washington. No. 11 Miami knocked off No. 6 Washington, 86-80, led by 30 points from Adrienne Motley. And No. 10 Arkansas rallied from a 12-point deficit to stun No. 7 Arkansas, 57-55.

Two No. 1 seeds will be back in action Sunday, and neither of them had problems with their first-round opponents. Notre Dame steamrolled Montana, 77-43, shooting 62.3 percent from the field. South Carolina had an equally easy time with an 81-48 win over Savannah State.

No. 1 overall seed Connecticut won’t be playing until Monday, but the Huskies left little doubt with their first-round matchup. UConn smashed St. Francis-Brooklyn, 89-33, setting up a second-round game with No. 8 Rutgers.
