CBI 2015 schedule and bracket: ULM plays Mercer in CBI quarterfinals

The first round featured plenty of excitement.

College basketball never stops. The NCAA Tournament may not return until Thursday, but the College Basketball Invitational will play its quarterfinals on Monday.

The No. 16 seed tournament was narrowed to eight in the first round on Wednesday in a series of incredibly close games. Just two of the eight games were decided by double digits -- Radford’s 78-57 walloping of Delaware State and Seattle’s 62-45 win against Pepperdine.

Loyola Chicago had Milton Doyle come off the bench to score 22 points on just seven shots on Wednesday. He was 5-7 from the field and shot 11-12 from the free throw line. Their opponent on Wednesday, Oral Roberts, features guard Obi Emegano, who scored 30 points in the opening round while playing 38 minutes.

ULM and Mercer also has the potential to be an exciting game. ULM went with an extremely short rotation of just seven players on Wednesday, relying on leading scorer Tylor Ongwae to play the entire 40 minutes. Ongwae had 26 points on 9-for-17 shooting while nailing four 3-point shots. Mercer took the opposite approach, playing 11 players in total but relying on Ike Nwamu for most of their offense. The junior guard finished with 25.

Here’s the schedule (all times Eastern)

Radford at Vermont, 7 p.m.

ULM at Mercer, 7 p.m. on ESPN3

Oral Roberts at Loyola Chicago, 8 p.m.

Colorado at Seattle, 10 p.m.
