Alabama hopes to hire Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall as its next coach, and the Crimson Tide are willing to make him a hefty offer, according to Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com.

The Crimson Tide are reportedly determined to land the Wichita State head coach.
That offer could be in excess of $3 million, Parrish says, and Alabama is ready to extend it as soon as the Shockers finish their season. Wichita State is currently preparing to face Notre Dame in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night.
Alabama, meanwhile, fired its head coach, Anthony Grant, after the SEC Tournament. Assistant coach John Brannen coached the Crimson Tide through their two NIT games.
In addition to possibly getting football coach Nick Saban to help recruit Marshall, Parrish says money is no object as it looks to make a big basketball hire. A source told CBSSports.com that Alabama is prepared to offer Marshall “piles of money, an athletic department with a culture of winning and every resource he needs to compete with anybody on a national level.”
Marshall is in his eighth season at Wichita State, where he has led the Shockers to six consecutive 25-win seasons. They are also making their second Sweet 16 appearance in the last three seasons, reached the Final Four in 2013 and went undefeated during the 2013-14 regular season.
Alabama has reached the NCAA Tournament just once since 2007 and has not advanced to the Sweet 16 since 2004.
