Arizona State has fired Herb Sendek as head basketball coach after nine years on the job, according to CBS Sports. Sendek only reached the NCAA Tournament twice with the Sun Devils and finished 155-133 during his time as coach.

Sendek arrived at Arizona for the 2006-07 season after reaching the NCAA Tournament five straight years at NC State. He enjoyed his best season in his third year at the school when James Harden led Arizona State to a 25-10 record and a spot in the tourney.
Recent years weren’t as kind, as Sendek made the tournament just once after Harden went to the NBA. In total, Sendek won just one NCAA Tournament game in nine seasons. This past season, the Sun Devils finished just 18-16 overall and 9-9 in conference, good for a fifth place finish in the Pac-12.
