Vanderbilt sophomore Luke Kornet was in the middle of a scary play during the Commodores’ NIT game against Stanford on Tuesday when Kornet got hit in the jaw by an elbow as he was attempting to play defense. Kornet was attempting to get back on defense in transition when he caught an elbow from Stanford’s Anthony Brown as Brown drove to the rim.

Kornet went down immediately, and he also appeared to hit his head on the court. The play can be seen here. Kornet was visibly flustered after the fall and struggled to initially get back to his feet. He was eventually able to get up and walked off the court with some help from a teammate. He headed back to the locker room where he was diagnosed with a concussion, according to Vanderbilt. In a tweet, the team said Kornet was “okay” but would not return to the game.
Brown was assessed a flagrant foul for the elbow.
