Notre Dame vs. Wichita State, NCAA Tournament 2015: Time, TV schedule and live stream

Notre Dame reached the Sweet 16 in thrilling fashion. Wichita State did it with a statement win. Here’s how to watch as the two teams meet for a spot in the Elite Eight.

The Third Round of the NCAA Tournament provided plenty of action, but perhaps no two teams added more drama than Notre Dame and Wichita State.

The Fighting Irish held off Butler in overtime Saturday night in a wild game from start to finish. It was also one that fans later learned Mike Brey was coaching with a heavy heart. The Notre Dame coach lost his mother earlier in the day and led his team to victory before sharing the news.

Notre Dame won that game 67-64 after a costly turnover in regulation nearly sent Butler to the second weekend instead. With the game tied at 55 in the waning seconds, Zach Auguste came up with a steal and looked like he might have a breakaway opportunity to win the game. But he was called for a double dribble just a couple seconds later, giving the ball back to the Bulldogs with a chance to win. That led to a dramatic Pat Connaughton block and a missed Butler jumper to send the game to overtime, where the Bulldogs were never able to regain the lead.

Wichita State’s win over Kansas in the Third Round wasn’t quite as thrilling, but it had just as much intrigue. The in-state foes had not met for over 20 years, despite the Shockers wanting to set up a game and the two schools being located just a couple hours apart. The long-awaited matchup started strong for the Jayhawks, but Wichita State closed the first half on a 13-2 run to take a lead it would never relinquish.

One might call the 7 seed’s win over the No. 2 seed an upset, but the Shockers are now 30-4, a year removed from an undefeated regular season and two years removed from a Final Four. Wichita State had no reason to lack confidence and it proved why, winning 78-65 to set up a date with the Irish.

That date will come on Thursday night in Cleveland, with the winner earning a spot in the Elite Eight, and possibly a showdown with No. 1 overall seed Kentucky.

The game figures to be another good one, so here’s how to watch it, no matter where you might be:
