After a single season at Tennessee, head basketball coach Donnie Tyndall will not return to the program next year. Southern Miss, where Tyndall coached the past three seasons, is currently under investigation by the NCAA for violations involving "Prop 48" recruits.

Thursday, Tennessee reportedly learned of the exact punishment the NCAA planned to levy against Tyndall for his involvement, according to CBS Sports. Because of this, it was impractical for Tyndall to continue at Tennessee after leading the Volunteers to a 16-16 record this season.
Given Tennessee’s controversial firing of Bruce Pearl of 2011 for violations he committed, and a renewed commitment to following the rules, it’s curious that the program almost immediately found another coach who ran into complications for doing the same thing. Of course Tennessee fans are frustrated by the way it has gone down.
Tennessee has already lost four-star guard Chris Clarke because of the controversy, who changed his commitment to Virginia Tech.
