It seems like every week we get a new “worst foul call ever.” Earlier this year, Ohio State was called for a foul that ESPN announcer Jay Bilas called “the worst call in the history of basketball.” And then on Wednesday, the Buckeyes were the beneficiaries of what actually might be the worst call in the history of basketball.

Penn State guard D.J. Newbill got called for an offensive foul against the Buckeyes for getting pushed out of the way while jogging.
I honestly have no idea what the ref could have been looking at there. Usually there’s some sort of explanation -- like maybe you could say that Sam Thompson fouled the defender in the aforementioned worst call ever -- but there doesn’t seem to be any explanation here.
