CAA tournament 2015: Bracket, schedule and results

William & Mary is three wins away from reaching the NCAA Tournament for the very first time.

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The CAA tournament tips off on Friday with 10 teams vying for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament takes place at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore and the final round will be televised on NBCSN.

The regular season came down to the final game last Saturday. William & Mary had been in first place for most of February, carrying a 12-5 conference record to the regular-season finale. They nearly gave the lead away after being upset by Drexel, which left an opening for 12-5 NC-Wilmington. All the Seahawks had to do was take care of 5-12 Elon to win the outright title. Instead, they got blown out, 74-55, and the Tribe claimed the top seed on tiebreakers.

Williams & Mary remain the favorites to win the tournament and punch their ticket to the dance. The Tribe would love to make history this year -- they’re one of five original Division I teams to never make the NCAA Tournament. Three wins would erase that ignominious record.

The format

All 10 teams are eligible for the tournament. The bottom four seeds must play an extra game in the first round, with the winners going on to face the top two seeds. After the first round, the tournament shifts to a standard eight-team format.

The first round will be streamed online at the CAA’s website, while the next round is airing on CSN regional affiliates. The final two rounds will be carried nationally on NBCSN.
