Cliff Alexander hasn’t played for Kansas since Feb. 23 after reports of an “NCAA issue” surfaced before the Jayhawks’ game with Texas last Saturday. According to Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, that issue is a connection to an NBA agent and possible impermissible benefits given to his family.

Alexander has hired a lawyer, which has delayed his interview with the NCAA. He will not be reinstated until he meets with the NCAA, so it’s likely his career at Kansas is done.

Alexander came to Kansas as the No. 3 player in the class of 2014 according to ESPN, but his freshman season hasn’t been as successful as many suspected. Alexander was only sixth on the team in minutes per game when reports surfaced, with Bill Self consistently choosing to play Jamari Traylor and Landen Lucas ahead of him for long stretches.

Alexander was still productive in his time on the court, but defensive mental lapses earned him a short leash with Self. At the moment, he’s projected as the No. 21 selection in the 2015 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.
