Patriot League basketball tournament 2015: Bracket, schedule and scores

Bucknell sits on top of a balanced league headed into the postseason.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Patriot League has been a tough conference to figure out this season. Bucknell won the league regular season title, but was just 1-3 against Colgate and Lehigh, the teams that finished directly behind the Bison. Just about every team in the conference finished with an overall record around .500, and eight of the league’s 10 teams finished within five games of first.

By the end of the season, it was the Bison who emerged with the top seed in the tournament by winning seven of their last eight. Colgate finished a game behind, but a triple-overtime loss at Loyola (Md.), the league’s second-worst team, doomed its chances of passing Bucknell. Lehigh was also in the running down the stretch in the regular season but lost three of its last four game and had to settle for third place. Oddly enough, the Mountain Hawks’ lone win in that span was a 19-point blowout over Bucknell.

The Format

All 10 Patriot League teams qualify for the postseason, with each game taking place at campus sites. The top two seeds, set on opposite sides of the bracket, face the two opening-round winners in the quarterfinals. The semifinals take place three days later, with the title game three days after that.
