NIT Championship 2015 live stream: How to watch Miami vs. Stanford

Miami and Stanford square off Thursday night for the NIT title at Madison Square Garden.

The Stanford Cardinal and Miami Hurricanes may have been left out of the NCAA Tournament, but both teams made the most of their chances in the consolation tournament. The two teams made it to the NIT championship game and will face each other for the title in Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

The game will be televised on ESPN and streamed online at WatchESPN. This is the furthest the Hurricanes have advanced in the NIT since 2006, when they made the quarterfinal round. Meanwhile, Stanford has twice won the NIT, lifting the trophy in 1991 and 2012.

The Cardinal were once sitting pretty in the tournament picture, but they stumbled down the stretch, going just 4-7 over the final two months and taking a No. 2 seed in the NIT. Stanford defeated UC Davis, Rhode Island and Vanderbilt before facing No. 1 Old Dominion in the semifinals. Chasson Randle scored 24 points and the Cardinal shot 48.7 percent from the field en route to a 67-60 win over the Monarchs.

Miami was another No. 2 seed in the tournament, defeating N.C. Central, Alabama and Richmond in the early rounds. The Hurricanes edged No. 1 Temple in the semifinals, 60-57, despite missing Angel Rodriguez for the third game in a row. The junior point guard is dealing with a wrist injury and, his status for Thursday's game is still uncertain. Despite his absence, Miami did enough to make the final, holding the Owls to a 30.2 shooting percentage and getting a double-double from Sheldon McClellan (16 points, 11 rebounds).

Place: Madison Square Garden, New York
