Michigan’s Caris LeVert suffered a season-ending foot injury in January, but many thought the swingman still would have been a first-round pick in the NBA Draft. LeVert decided on Tuesday that he wasn’t ready to make that jump just yet. The swingman announced he will be returning to school for his senior season to headline a team that also includes Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton Jr. on the perimeter.
Caris LeVert is returning to school for Michigan
Michigan received a big boost with the surprise decision that LeVert is returning to school.

LeVert had a breakout sophomore season for a Michigan team that went to the Elite Eight, but his junior year didn’t work out as planned. Michigan got off to a horrid start even with LeVert in the lineup, losing to NJIT and Eastern Michigan in back-to-back games. Without LeVert for the second half of the year, the Wolverines would finish 16-16 and miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010.
LeVert likely would have been in the mix for a late first-round selection. The 6’7 shooting guard has a game that’s often described as “smooth” with a nice shooting touch from behind the three-point line (40.5 percent on 4.4 attempts per game last season). As a junior, LeVert averaged 14.9 points and 3.7 assists per game.
