There’s another five-star guard back on the board in the class of 2016. Tyus Battle, who had committed to Michigan in May, has reopened his recruitment and is reportedly strongly considering Syracuse, according to Scout.com’s Evan Daniels.
5-star guard Tyus Battle decommits from Michigan, strongly considering Syracuse
Jim Boeheim is reportedly primed to land an elite guard after Tyus Battle reopened his recruitment on Friday.

Battle is a 6’5 shooting guard out of New Jersey who is currently ranked No. 14 on Rivals and No. 27 in his class according to ESPN. Battle was also offered by Duke, Louisville and Arizona before what was considered a surprising commitment to Michigan.
Battle is now set to visit Syracuse this weekend. Many recruiting analysts believe that’s where he will eventually end up:
Would be more surprised if Tyus Battle doesn't commit to Syracuse by weekend's end than if he does commit.
— Jerry Meyer (@jerrymeyer247) June 19, 2015 Syracuse was docked 12 scholarships over the next four years as part of sanctions for an academic impropriety scandal. Securing a commitment from Battle would be evidence that the sanctions haven’t really altered Jim Boeheim’s ability to recruit just yet.
Syracuse already has a strong 2015 class entering the program this year, which was ranked No. 14 in the country by 247Sports. It features four potential top-100 recruits led by small forward Malachi Richardson, who was a McDonald’s All-American.
