5-star wing Jayson Tatum is down to 2 schools, decision will come soon

Will it be Duke, Kentucky, UNC or St. Louis for the 6’8 small forward?

Jayson Tatum is a special talent as one of the three best players in the loaded recruiting class of 2016. The 6’8 wing out of St. Louis cut his list to four schools in April. Now he says he’s down to two schools, with a decision coming either this month or next month.

Tatum did not specify which two schools he has eliminated. His final four schools were Kentucky, Duke, St. Louis and North Carolina.

It appears that Tatum will be the first elite prospect to pick a school in the class of 2016. Right now, none of ESPN’s top 10 players in the class have committed. It has become trendier for blue chip prospects to wait until the spring to commit so they can see which players are declaring for the NBA Draft, who is transferring and how the coaching carousel spins.

Tatum was a member of USA Basketball’s gold medal-winning U17 team last summer. He plays a controlled, smooth game and has been touted for his advanced passing ability and basketball IQ. He is currently playing for the St. Louis Eagles on Nike’s EYBL tour.
