Five-star wing Miles Bridges announces final 5 schools in recruiting

The Flint, Mich. native is considering Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, North Carolina and Indiana.

Miles Bridges, the No. 7 overall recruit in the Class of 2016 according to ESPN, has cut down the schools he’s considering attending next year to five. The 6’7, 225-pound Flint, Mich. native informed ESPN that he’s now looking at Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, North Carolina and Indiana.

Despite having the build of a forward, Bridges, who plays for Huntington (W.Va.), has expressed a desire to play on the wing in college. He told ESPN that all five of his final choices have said that he’d be allowed to play on the perimeter.

“They talked to me about playing the three and some schools said I could even end up being a two if I continue to develop my ball-handling,” he said.

Below is what Bridges had to say to ESPN about each of the five schools individually.

On Michigan: “I talk to Coach (John) Beilein all the time and it’s a great situation. I love the way they bring in guys who aren’t ranked and turn them into pros.”

On Michigan State: “It’s only 45 minutes away from my home and they are one of the first schools to recruit me. A lot of guys from my area have gone there and been successful.”

On Kentucky: “My mom and I really liked Kentucky. I love how they get guys to the NBA.”

North Carolina: “I just started talking to Coach (Roy) Williams. I like the program, their style of playing run-and-gun. He really lets them play.”

Indiana: “Tom Crean always gives me feedback when he sees me play. I like their staff and that school is all about basketball.”

Bridges, a lefty, has been compared to former NBA player Rodney Rodgers. He’s big, strong, athletic and good in transition. He was a standout at last week’s Nike Peach Jam, where he averaged 22.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Like many young players he has a streaky a jump shot and also struggles on the defensive end at times. But Bridges is still considered a top prospect who many scouts envision playing in the NBA in the near-future.

Bridges told ESPN that he intends to visit all five of the schools on his final list and plans on making a final decision by December.
