A search for Big Blue love on Kentucky-only dating site BBNMeetup

I joined the dating site for Kentucky fans. Wish me luck.

I love basketball. Probably so much so that it hurts my personal life. During the season, when I’m not crossing an arena off my endless basketball bucket list, I’m usually at home watching a game on TV:

Basketball. Dunkin. Bunny slippers. My Valentine's Day is better than yours.

That was my Valentine’s Day. I’ve been single for a while now.

I recently learned that there’s hope for me. Thanks to the great people from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, I’ve joined BBNMeetup.com: that dating site for Kentucky fans that you’ve been hearing so much about.

The signup was free, and in no time I was ready to find some Big Blue Love!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my travels, it’s that Kentucky fans are everywhere. EVERYWHERE. I watched them overwhelm the stands at Madison Square Garden and invade Arlington at the Final Four, so even though I’m not a Wildcat fan, this seems like a safe bet to find someone remotely like me.

I joined BBNMeetup.com the day it launched, and if it doesn’t work out, at least I have the satisfaction of this screen name.

Maybe I’m not the best looking guy in the world, but I feel like my personality more than makes up for it. Here’s a little bit about me. Once others read this, I expect my inbox to flood.

A bit about the site itself: It’s slow and little confusing to follow, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that non-UK-centric dating sites have, and there aren’t many people on it yet.

I still can’t look away.

Kentucky fans in general are fascinating creatures. I came across many profile photos that included face paint, masks and other over-the-top Big Blue paraphernalia. It’s a nice change of pace from the mirror selfies you’ll find elsewhere. I also imagine Kentucky people dress like drunk college students in everyday life and this isn’t just a sporting event thing. I’m OK with this.

future wife

Oh, and I really can’t wait for more people to start using the forums. The site admin has started a bunch of threads to spur discussion, but to my disappointment, the responses have been rare. All I want to do is sit back and watch the unfiltered Kentucky crazy of horny fans come pouring through on an Internet message board.

Just imagine two college kids who haven’t had the fortune of meeting yet, going at it about expectations for Isaiah Briscoe. One expects him to shine immediately. The other thinks Jamal Murray will take some of his minutes. They debate who is better, without ever having seen either of them play. They wonder if chemistry will be an issue on the team, while theirs is already perfect. They hate each other. But they love the argument. And that’s why they can’t wait to meet. So they do. They rewatch old games for the rest of the summer, occasionally venturing out to a UK football game. Then they go to Big Blue Madness together and he proposes at mid-court. Their wedding is officiating by Briscoe, but Murray walks her down the aisle.

It’s perfect, and before you know it, they’re married and bickering long into the night about Coach Calipari’s next talented recruiting class.

That’s what I want to see.

So now it’s time for me to search for that special, psychotic someone. Sure, I live in New York and there are only a few other members in the area. I don’t care. Am I willing to relocate to Lexington? We’ll see. Here’s a sampling of what I found from users in that area:
