LSU is opening what might be the most anticipated season the program has seen since the days of Shaquille O’Neal with a five-game tour in Australia. This, of course, is no coincidence: the Tigers have brought in the No. 1 recruit in the country, forward Ben Simmons, who came to United States from Australia for his last two years of high school.
Simmons is projected to be one of the top two picks in the 2016 NBA Draft, and it hasn’t taken him long to show why. In LSU’s third exhibition game on Tuesday, Simmons finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a narrow Tigers win to improve to 2-1.
This one play epitomizes everything to like about Simmons: the size of a big man (6’10), the speed of a wing, the playmaking ability of a point guard. It’s going to be a fun season in Baton Rouge.
