Gary Trent Jr., a 6’5 shooting guard from Minnesota, has committed to Duke. Trent made his decision live on ESPNU alongside other top-recruits P.J. Washington and Collin Sexton on the second day of the early signing period.
5-star guard Gary Trent Jr. commits to Duke
The son of a former lottery pick is going to Duke.

Trent chose the Blue Devils over the Michigan State Spartans and UCLA Bruins.
Trent is the No. 8 recruit in the country and the No. 2 shooting guard, according to ESPN. He’s a natural-born scorer who can get buckets from all three levels and also has a strong frame that should help him become a quality defensive player in college. At the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 tournament, Trent was Team USA’s leading scorer with 17 points per game on 51 percent shooting and also averaged three rebounds.
Trent’s father was the No. 11 pick in the 1995 draft. In nine NBA seasons, he averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game for the Trail Blazers, Raptors, Mavericks and Timberwolves.
