Michigan State entered Big Ten play on uncharacteristically shaky ground after finishing a punishing non-conference schedule at just 8-5. The Spartans were tested until the end in their conference opener against Minnesota, but came away with a 75-74 win in overtime.
It was enough to earn them a surprise visit from special guest: Tom Izzo’s 90-year-old mother.
