When Damian Jones scored with 13:40 to play, the bucket gave Vanderbilt a 17-point lead over Mississippi State. It looked like the Commodores would cruise to an easy win.
Mississippi State rallies from 17-point deficit to win on 3-pointer at the buzzer

Some 13 minutes later, this happened.
Rallying from a 17-point deficit in the second half takes some good fortune and things broke just right for the Bulldogs. Even in the final seconds, Mississippi State caught two significant breaks. First, Vanderbilt made only one of two free throws, giving the Bulldogs a chance to tie with a two or win with a three.
Then Mississippi State missed its first opportunity at the win -- in fact, Malik Newman’s attempt barely caught anything. But because his shot missed so badly, it actually turned into the perfect assist. The Bulldogs were able to corral the rebounds and move the ball to set up Quinndary Weatherspoon while Vanderbilt’s defense tried to recover.
Weatherspoon took full advantage of MSU’s second chance.
