There’s another 5-star on the market after the Dallas native chose to back off his pledge to Alabama.

The crown jewel of Avery Johnson’s first full recruiting class at Alabama has decided to reopen his recruitment. Terrance Ferguson, a 6’6 wing out of Dallas, has backed off his pledge to the Crimson Tide, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.

Ferguson is one of the top shooters and best athletes in the class of 2016. He’s ranked as the No. 13 player in the country by ESPN and will be a McDonald’s All-American later this month in Chicago.

Ferguson’s initial commitment to the Crimson Tide was considered a major surprise and he will have no shortage of suitors now that he’s reopened his recruitment. Kansas was once viewed as the frontrunner before he chose the Crimson Tide.

This is a big blow for the momentum Johnson has built in his first season in Tuscaloosa. Alabama is 17-11 overall and 8-8 in the SEC with wins over Texas A&M, South Carolina, Wichita State and Notre Dame.
