NCAA basketball bracket 2016: West Region headlined by Oregon, Oklahoma

The Ducks are a No. 1 seed for the first time.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The West Region of the 2016 NCAA Tournament bracket is headlined by a team with a shiny No. 1 seed for the first time. That's Oregon, which stormed to a Pac-12 Tournament championship over the weekend in Las Vegas, and now has a top seed for the first time in program history.

Dana Altman’s team went undefeated against ranked teams in 2015-16, and turned it on in the Pac-12 Tournament, defeating Arizona for a second time and winning a third game against Utah by 31 points. The Ducks’ previous best seed was a No. 2 seed in 2002, when they made it to the Elite Eight before bowing out against Kansas.

The Ducks are joined by No. 2 seed Oklahoma, No. 3 seed Texas A&M and No. 4 Duke, the defending NCAA Tournament champion. The West, as should seem obvious, is dotted with teams from the Pac-12 and Big 12, which comprise five of the top seven seeds in the bracket.

And the only SEC team in the bracket is Texas A&M, which was a Big 12 team not so long ago.

Here are the full West Region seed list and brackets.
