March Madness schedule 2016: Cinderellas take the court, while Oregon is the Pac-12’s last hope

Friday’s big Cinderellas are back in action Sunday. Oregon is the last No. 1 seed taking the court in the second round, but are also the only Pac-12 team still playing.

The NCAA Tournament’s second round concludes on Sunday, and by day’s end we’ll have the complete Sweet 16 field set. This day promises to be a lot fun, featuring plenty of teams who scored crazy upset wins on Friday.

The biggest upset of the first round was No. 15 Middle Tennessee State, which took down No. 2 Michigan State on Friday. The Blue Raiders face No. 10 Syracuse, guaranteeing that we’ll see a double-digit seed in the Sweet Sixteen. As a bonus, the winner moves on to play No. 11 Gonzaga, also guaranteeing we’ll see a double-digit seed in the Elite Eight. The Midwest Region got really weird this year.

The other big darling is No. 14 Stephen F. Austin, fresh off a beatdown of No. 3 West Virginia. The Lumberjacks take on No. 6 Notre Dame and will surely be up to the challenge. Two more Cinderellas take the court with No. 13 Hawaii facing No. 5 Maryland and No. 11 Northern Iowa matching up against No. 3 Texas A&M. Do any of these teams have another upset win left in them?

The final game of the night features No. 1 Oregon, in an unenviable position as the Pac-12’s last hopes. It’s been a brutal tournament for the conference, which placed seven teams but saw five of them lose in the first round. The Pac-12 got a further beating on Saturday when No. 3 Utah got destroyed by Gonzaga. The Ducks face No. 8 Saint Joseph’s and will certainly be under increased pressure to represent their conference and prove they’re worthy of a No. 1 seed.
