There is just one day to go before this year’s Final Four is set. It feels like just yesterday we had 68 teams all vying for the national championship, but after just one week that number is down to six after Saturday’s Elite Eight games. Our printable bracket has been updated accordingly.
2016 Printable NCAA bracket: Elite 8 is under way
Oklahoma and Villanova are set to match up in the Final Four, and we’ll find out which teams join then on Sunday. The bracket continues to shrink.
The first Elite Eight game could’ve been a snoozer if Buddy Hield wasn’t so fun to watch. The Oklahoma star went off for 37 points as the Sooners routed Oregon, which became the first No. 1 seed to exit this year’s tournament. It also ended any chances for the Final Four to be all No. 1 seeds (that only happened once before, in 2008).
The Sooners didn’t have to wait long to find out who their Final Four opponent was. No. 2 Villanova continued the theme of top seeds going down, beating No. 1 overall team Kansas in a tense, back-and-forth affair. The Wildcats head to the national semifinals for the first time since 2009, and this game does a lot to erase the memories of last year, when they stumbled and crashed out in the round of 32.
On Sunday, we’ll know our other Final Four matchup when No. 1 Virginia meets No. 10 Syracuse and No. 1 North Carolina takes on No. 6 Notre Dame.
