CIT Tournament 2016 scores and bracket: Columbia, UC Irvine set to meet in final round

We are guaranteed to see a new champion in this year’s CIT final. Plus, we get more Mamadou N’diaye!

The CIT championship matchup is set with the conclusion of Sunday’s semifinal round. Columbia and UC Irvine are set to square off Tuesday, and you can catch the action on CBS Sports Network.

Columbia made quick work of NJIT with the convincing 80-65 win. Maodo Lo dominated the game with 29 points and six assists on 11-of-18 shooting, while Alex Rosenberg added 16 points and five rebounds. The Lions shot 48.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Highlanders, 39-29.

The second game of the night was even more of a blowout, with UC Irvine cruising to a 66-47 win over Coastal Carolina. The Anteaters shot 42.1 percent from the field, hardly an impressive rate, but the Chanticleers were far worse at 27.4 percent. Luke Nelson led UC Irvine with 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while big man and Internet darling Mamadou N'diaye had nine rebounds and three blocks.

Columbia will be playing for its first-ever CIT title after reaching the quarterfinals in 2014. UC Irvine last made the CIT in 2013, being eliminated in the second round.
