Tom Izzo entered the Hall of Fame last week, but he’s still in the process of writing his legacy. Izzo landed another signature recruit on Thursday morning when forward Jaren Jackson Jr. picked Michigan State over Maryland, Purdue, Georgetown and Notre Dame. Jackson is rated as the No. 15 player in the class of 2017 by Rivals.

The commitment of Jackson is more evidence that Izzo is recruiting as well as ever at age 61. Michigan State welcomes the country’s No. 3 recruiting class this year, headlined by McDonald’s All-Americans Miles Bridges and Josh Langford. This is the Spartans’ first commitment for 2017.
Izzo reportedly visited Jackson on Sunday after going into the Hall of Fame on Friday. The 6’10, 225-pound forward’s best skill is his shooting ability. He’s also athletic enough to get to the rim on drives and has improved as a rebounder over the last year.
The Indiana native plays for La Lumiere High School alongside five-star guard Brian Bowen. La Lumiere lost to Oak Hill at the buzzer in the title game of the Dick’s Nationals tournament last season.
