Arizona is getting back one of its best players for the first time all season on the brink of its biggest game of the year. Sophomore shooting guard Allonzo Trier has been cleared to play vs. UCLA on Saturday after passing his most recent drug test, the program has announced.
Arizona’s Allonzo Trier passes drug test, will play vs. UCLA
The star shooting guard is making his season debut just in time for Arizona’s biggest game of the year.

Trier’s return ends one of college basketball’s biggest ongoing subplots. Arizona remained silent on the reason for Trier’s absence until ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported he had tested positive for PEDs in the preseason earlier this week. The drug needed to be completely out of his system before he could return, and now that has happened.
Trier has been practicing with the team and will make his debut as No. 14 Arizona travels to play the No. 3 Bruins in a Pac-12 showdown.
Trier was a five-star recruit out of high school and Arizona’s third-leading scorer last season as a freshman at 14.8 points per game. He joins an Arizona team that sits at 17-2 thanks largely to the contributions of freshmen Kobi Simmons, Rawle Alkins, and sweet-shooting 7-footer Lauri Markkanen.
This is a major addition for the Wildcats and puts an even bigger spotlight on the matchup vs. Lonzo Ball and UCLA.
