Kansas basketball suspended sophomore forward Carlton Bragg Jr. last week for the second time this season. Now we know why: Bragg has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Kansas City Star.

Bill Self has suspended Bragg indefinitely.

When Bragg was suspended on Jan. 27, coach Bill Self said it was not related to the ongoing rape investigation at McCarthy Hall, a Kansas dorm that primarily houses basketball players where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped in December. That case remains open with five Jayhawks players named as witnesses.
Bragg was also suspended in December for a battery charge for an incident involving his girlfriend that was eventually dropped.
Bragg’s current suspension is indefinite. He missed the Jayhawks’ 79-73 win against Kentucky on Rupp Arena on Saturday, and could miss another marquee matchup against Baylor on Wednesday.
Bragg, a former McDonald’s All-American, is averaging 6.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season for Kansas. He serves as the Jayhawks’ primary backup for starting center Landen Lucas. The Jayhawks’ front court depth has taken a big hit without him and Udoka Azubuike, the freshman who is out for the season with a wrist injury.
