The Fab Five is nothing but a myth for today’s high school seniors. Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King came together at Michigan to form college basketball’s most infamous recruiting class way back in 1991. Current high school seniors were born in 1999 or 2000.

Still, the legacy of the Fab Five endures. Case in point: Iowa State’s class of 2018 recruits recreated the group’s iconic photoshoot during a visit to Ames this weekend.
That’s four-star forwards Zion Griffin (No. 23) and Talen Horton-Tucker (No. 33), center George Conditt (No. 24), and 6’5 point guard Tyrese Haliburton (No. 3). Horton-Tucker is the only member of the group who hasn’t committed yet, hence Haliburton’s nudging in his tweet.
This is already an impressive class for coach Steve Prohm and the Cyclones, and it has the potential to get so much better if Horton-Tucker or one of their other top targets sign on. Right now, ISU’s class is ranked No. 33 in the country by 247 Sports.
Still a ways to go until they reach Fab Five status, but we appreciate the effort.
