Grayson Allen was so ridiculously good in Duke’s win over Michigan State

Allen’s 37 points helped Duke beat MSU. Ugh.

Grayson Allen was better than every single mega-recruit on the floor in Duke’s 88-82 win over Michigan State on Tuesday night. There probably weren’t many who enjoyed the 37 points he rained, but there’s no denying he’s really good at this whole basketball thing.

With debatably the best recruit in college basketball, Marvin Bagley III, out for the second half of the game after getting poked in the eye, Duke should have struggled more than it did. But Allen was on fire and never cooled off. Everything he flung from deep was going down. He shot 11-of-20 from the field, and 7-of-11 from deep.

He was nothing short of awesome, and that became more apparent after each swoosh.

Even this near-half-court hoist before the halftime buzzer went down:

Allen’s 37 points were Duke’s most against a top-2 team since J.J. Redick dropped 41 in 2005.

Even though a ton of the country despises the Duke star after his infamous tripping fiascos, he remains one of the best players in college basketball. Even surrounded by huge-name five-star recruits like Bagley, Trevon Duval and Wendell Carter, who are all potential first-round NBA picks, Allen stood out as THE guy.

He’s still Duke’s guy.
