The Battle 4 Atlantis started with an upset when unranked Tennessee knocked off No. 18 Purdue, 78-75, in overtime on Wednesday. The victory wasn’t without controversy, though.

Grant Williams hit a shot to put the Vols ahead with 14 seconds left. Purdue missed a 15-foot jumper on the other end and immediately fouled Tennessee’s James Daniel III, who calmly drained both free throws.

Purdue had two seconds left to throw a full court pass. This is what happened:

It looks like the Tennessee player traveled and Purdue should have had about 0.8 seconds left to attempt one last shot to tie the game. The refs reviewed the play and decided to call the game.

Tennessee nows plays the winner of Villanova vs. Western Kentucky in the second round. Follow the Battle 4 Atlantis with our living post.
