Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. has been Baylor’s breakout big man this season. The senior is second on the team in scoring (14.3 points per game) and leads the Bears in rebounds and blocks. On Thursday against Texas Southern, his mom got to watch him play for the first time.
Baylor’s Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.‘s Sudanese parents finally got to watch him play basketball for the first time
And now they’ll watch him graduate.

Lual-Acuil picked his parents up from the airport and then finished with 18 points in the win.
Lual-Acuil was emotional talking about his parents after the game:
Lual-Acuil is from South Sudan and didn’t pick up basketball until 10th grade. His family remained in South Sudan as he came to the United States to play college basketball, first starting out at a junior college in Kansas before eventually transferring to Baylor last season.
The best part of all? Lual-Acuil is graduating this weekend. His parents will be there for that, too.
